To train equipped child development specialists who, with the principles of Atatürk's thought system, are knowledgeable about children's developmental areas (cognitive, social-emotional, language, motor, self-care), can meet the needs of different age groups, and can integrate theory and practice for both the development and education of children.

Program Profile
  • Provide the necessary research environment to train students who are capable of conducting field-specific scientific research in accordance with the requirements of the contemporary age, and to instill habits of evaluation and production
     

  • Equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in all areas of the Child Development Program by working with qualified academics and considering the necessity of lifelong learning
     

  • Enable students to conduct interdisciplinary studies by utilizing data obtained from different disciplines of social sciences, allowing them to approach socio-cultural activities comprehensively
     

  • Educate students as individuals who possess critical thinking skills in human and social relations, are open to communication, and adhere to ethical principles.

Learning Environment

Education and training are carried out on a formal (in-person) basis. However, due to the availability of sufficient technological resources, distance education methods are also partially implemented. In addition, practical training is provided through research centers and similar units within the University.

Program Outcomes (Qualifications)

   

  1. Gains theoretical and practical fundamental knowledge related to the Child Development program.
     

  2. Utilizes fundamental and up-to-date technical knowledge in the field of Child Development.
     

  3. Develops solution proposals for problems encountered by using Child Development techniques, shares these proposals with relevant parties, and when necessary, forms a team and assumes responsibility.
     

  4. Improves the ability to access, select, understand, interpret, and utilize information related to Child Development, adopts the habit of learning to learn, and applies it throughout life.
     

  5. Applies appropriate teaching strategies, methods, activities, and techniques by taking into account the developmental characteristics and individual differences of children.
     

  6. Prepares educational materials that support the developmental areas (physical, cognitive, language, social-emotional, and sensory development) of children in preschool and special education institutions and organizes educational environments accordingly.
     

  7. Acquires basic theoretical knowledge related to mathematics and social sciences (such as History and Turkish).
     

  8. Reflects the philosophy, general characteristics, and the requirements of each component of the program related to the profession in classroom management and practices.
     

  9. Develops research methods as well as the ability to explore and produce alternative solutions.
     

  10. Recognizes the characteristics of children with special needs and plans and implements the educational process for these children.

Assessment and Evaluation Methods

         

  1. The types of examinations and their contributions to the course success grade are determined in accordance with the provisions of Çağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Teaching and Examination Regulations and the decisions of the Senate.
     

  2. Various methods such as assignments, projects, practical applications, midterm exams, and final exams are used in assessment and evaluation.
     

  3. Grading systems based on letters and/or numbers are used to evaluate student achievement.

Quality Assurance

To ensure the quality of higher education programs:

  • The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for the planning, organization, management, and supervision of education, training, and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

  • Within the framework of criteria determined by YÖK, “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” are published annually. Based on these reports, quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions are shared with the public by YÖK.

  • YÖK also publishes the “Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report” annually, which includes academic, administrative, and financial data related to foundation higher education institutions. These reports contain both quantitative and qualitative evaluations and are made public by YÖK.

The quality assurance of the Child Development associate degree program is ensured as follows:

Program Design and Approval:

  • YÖK sets the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of associate/undergraduate programs in higher education institutions.

  • The curriculum and the learning outcomes to be gained by the students in each associate/undergraduate program are determined by the Senate of Çağ University in accordance with the principles set by YÖK.

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • The assessment and evaluation of the learning outcomes of the Child Development associate degree program are carried out in accordance with the “Çağ University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations” prepared in line with the principles set by YÖK.

Certification:

  • Students enrolled in the Child Development associate degree program receive an associate degree diploma upon successful completion of the required course credits and other obligations determined by the higher education institution.

Self-Assessment and External Evaluation:

  • As part of continuous monitoring, Çağ University enters its “Internal Evaluation Reports” for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year.

  • YÖKAK shares the “Institutional Feedback Report” related to the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public.

  • Accreditation decisions made by accreditation agencies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the program qualifications has been met.

  • YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications in accordance with its legislation.

Admission Requirements To have been placed in the Child Development Program at Çağ University through the centralized examination conducted by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center).
Conditions for Earning the Qualification The graduation requirements for the Child Development Program are specified in the Çağ University Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education, Training, and Examination Regulation. According to this regulation, students can graduate if they pass all courses in the curriculum with at least a DD letter grade, and achieve a minimum overall GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.
Progression Opportunities Graduates of the Child Development associate degree program can apply to bachelor’s degree programs based on the results of the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM
