Aim:
The aim of this program is to provide the students with the highest theoretical and practical knowledge in contemporary management to develop their skills in understanding, defining, analyzing and developing solution methods and understanding complex situations and problems in health-related business life. The program aims to enable graduates to become leaders, managers or entrepreneurs in the business world.

 

Objectives:
The overall objective of the program is to develop and enhance students' knowledge in the field of health management. Thus, students will be able to understand and analyze complex management problems and develop and apply solution methods. In addition, the program aims to develop students' ability to follow, interpret, analyze and apply the business life to the global economy and developments in international markets.

Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge in different and complementary areas such as management principles, financial management of hospitals, accounting, decision making techniques, globalization and the international business world.

Foundation & Recognition

The Institute of Social Sciences of Cag University was founded in 1997 to educate and develop prospective leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs in private and public business organizations.

Master of Health Care Management Program has been approved to prepare the students to being academicians in this field or the prospective leaders and entrepreneurs for the public/private health organizations.

The students who have successfully completed the program will be awarded with a Masters Degree Diploma on Health Care Management.

Students who have started master's degree studies in other domestic or international universities may apply for admission according to Regulations of Council of Higher Education and Cag University.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of  Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal And İnformal)

Students who have studied at other Universities may transfer Cag University master degree’ programmes.

Exemption is given for any other courses which have already been taken from other universities with passing grades and same content.

Qualification Requirements And Regulations

A student is required to have a minimum CGPA of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile Of The Programme

Master of Health Care Management Program is designed to equip the students with both theoretical and practical knowledge of the contemporary health management issues and then to develop their skills as leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs for the private and the public health organizations.

Occupational Profiles Of Graduates With Examples

Graduated students have opportunity to work in public and private health institutions as managers and may find employment in administrative units of health-related NGOs and other similar organizations. The Ministry of Health and its affiliates, Social Security Institution and other public hospitals and organizations are employed as assistant experts and executive candidates. In addition to these organizations, graduated students also have job opportunities in pharmaceutical companies, businesses trading medical devices and materials and private health insurance institutions.

Access To Further Studies

Students may apply to third degree (doctorate) programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment And Grading

The examination regulations are specified for each course. However, generally, there is 1 Midterm Exam, 1 Final Exam and term paper for each course. See the exam regulations, assessment and grading of each course in the Course Structure Diagram for details.

Graduation Requirements

The graduation requirements for the Health Care Management Program are as the same as the general qualification requirements and regulations of Çağ University. There is no additional requirement to secure the Master of Health Care Management Degree provided that the students have passed all the courses in the curriculum with at least a DD grade, had a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

1. Have the ability to apply different leadership styles in different situations in hospitals.

2. Develop and apply the most appropriate motivation techniques in different departments of hospitals by identifying motivation needs for different environments.

SKY-501 - Strategic Management in Health Institutions

The concept of strategic management covers the basic elements of strategic management process, strategic planning, strategic objectives of health enterprises, strategic use of resources, strategies at different management levels, evaluation of strategy, case study analysis and development strategies related to business life in terms of health institutions.


SKY-505 - Entrepreneurship in the Health Sector

Concepts related to entrepreneurship, importance of entrepreneurship, development, functions and types of entrepreneurship, characteristics of entrepreneurs and development of personal skills in entrepreneurship, motivation in entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, examination of entrepreneurship finance in terms of health sector, evaluation of entrepreneurship potential, case studies in entrepreneurship in health sector.


SKY-506 - Health Insurance

Health insurance and payment systems, the historical development of insurance, coverage, health insurance types in the world, and health insurance in Turkey, the problems experienced in the insurance field, recent developments in health insurance and payment system covers the topic.


SKY-507 - Health tourism

Health tourism, the place of tourism and the importance of health tourism potential in Turkey, the development of health tourism and development reasons, factors that make up the supply of health tourism, natural conditions in health tourism and the environment, factors affecting the demand for health tourism, health tourism organization, marketing in health tourism and logistics, health tourism policies, health tourism incentives, health tourism problems, global competition.


SKY-511 - Basic Business Information

This course covers the examination of ethical principles, ethical theories, principles, problems, decision-making process and attitude development in health management.


SKY-512 - Logistics Management in Health Institutions

This course covers the necessary technical, statistical and conceptual knowledge and skills related to planning, purchasing, storage, stock management, transportation, preparation, consumption and recycling / waste management in health institutions and organizations.


SKY-514 - Financial Management in Health Institutions

For the healthcare businesses, the cash flow statement includes financial topics such as Company Valuation, Capital Structure Theories, Dividend Policies, Leasing, Financial Markets, International Financial Management, Risk Management and Derivatives.


SKY-516 - Total Quality Management and Accreditation Process in Health Institutions

Quality and theories related to quality management in health institutions, applicability of theories to health services, Total Quality Management, quality improvement in health services, continuous quality improvement, accreditation and planning, statistical quality control, quality measurement of medical care.


SKY-517 - Basic Economics Information for Businesses

Interpersonal communication, mass communication and communication theories in organizations, health communication, health promotion, historical development of public relations and comparison of various theories and models of public relations, the importance and applications of public relations in health institutions.


SKY-519 - Human Resources Management in Health Institutions

Human resource management concepts in general Human resources planning, recruitment, wage system, career planning, orientation and in-service training job-occupational analysis, performance appraisal-job valuation-job security and employee health, management and relationships between different occupational groups, trade unions and collective bargaining, employee satisfaction.


SKY-521 - Basic Economics Information for Businesses

The course focuses on the subject of economics, the functioning of the market mechanism, the income and cost structure of the firm, macroeconomic problems and policy instruments and how economic policies affect the firm. The course aims to provide the students with the basic economic knowledge necessary for the graduate program in business administration and the economic thinking that they will need in business life.


SKY-522 - Seminer (Tezsiz)

The seminar activities conducted under the supervision of a faculty member aim to make the student gain experience in this subject by conducting independent research and to develop the ability of speaking in front of the community by telling the subject. Determining the subject of the study, researching the secondary sources and using them in the study, field research, preparing the draft study in the light of the obtained information, making the necessary corrections, completing the report in accordance with the rules of writing the report and finally presenting the report to the audience and discussing the scope of this course.


SKY-523 - Seminar (Thesis)

SKY-525 - Term Project

Sağlık alanında yazım kurallarına uygun olarak yazılacak bir akademik çalışma niteliğindedir. Dersin içeriği kapsamlı bir deneme, eleştirel bir rapor, uygulamaya dönük bir proje, deneysel bir çalışma olabilir. Dönem Projesi dersi dönem sonunda başarılı ya da başarısız olarak değerlendirilir.


SKY-527 - Health Law and Ethics

In Health Law and Ethics course; basic institutions and concepts related to health professionals. Medical malpractice and related issues will be covered during the course. The aim of the course is to provide the students with the basic concepts of health law, patient and health care worker rights, criminal, legal and professional responsibilities, informed consent, processes leading to medical malpractice, certification and insurance systems.


SKY-530 - Marketing in Health Institutions

Definition of health services marketing includes marketing and customer mixes, types of health services and institutions providing health services, types of markets and types of competition in different market structures, marketing-branding strategies and practices in health services.


SKY-532 - Healthcare Accounting Management

This course focuses on how companies prepare financial statements. As accountants do, students are also required to apply the accounting rules and principles required to obtain financial statements. After the financial statements are prepared, students are directed to make an overall assessment. This course aims to teach the students to record, classify and summarize important commercial and financial transactions in the accounting process.


SKY-534 - Research Methods and Techniques

The aim of this course is to determine the research process (to identify problems, to form the subject and hypothesis of the research, to collect data, to analyze and to comment), to search the literature required to conduct research and to learn to write reports. In addition, some statistical programs for data evaluation and report writing are discussed.


SKY-539 - Epidemiology

The course covers the definition and historical development of epidemiology, usage areas, calculation of basic health criteria, epidemiological research methods, epidemiological research design and article evaluation. At the end of the course; to know epidemiological usage areas, to count the types of epidemiological research, to plan and conduct research, to interpret epidemiological data and to use this data in the planning, evaluation and management of health services.

Obtaining the basic information about the enterprises, as a result of today's fast-changing environment, the differences in the areas in which the companies operate are perceived and interpreted.

Management and in the light of the basic concepts related to management in Turkey and the world of health and hospital management and training, functional relationships and workflows and architecture of the health structure of health care, contemporary approaches to the management of health institutions and issues such as international navigation is handled.


SKY-560 - Leadership and Organizational Behavior

The course will focus on topics such as personality and business values, motivation, groups and teams, leadership and power, and the focus of organizational behavior, with emphasis on conflict and negotiation with politics.


SKY-571 - Health Economics

Health Economics, which is an expanding field, has an important place in public policies. This course is designed to introduce students to the accumulation of literature in the field of health economics. The main lines of the course are the features and incentives of health care production and conditions. Topics include health and health care demand, individual responses to incentives for health insurance markets, labor market effects, health capital and health behavior.


SKY-579 - Production Management and Service Management

To remember the concepts and theories of production management, strategic planning, relations with other areas of business, marketing and finance, production systems, new production technologies. To support the program with case studies with a focus on total quality management, plant location selection, capacity planning, production planning, inventory management and planning, supply chain management, business design, ergonomics. To be reminded of the basic concepts and theories and to learn the application of the principles of management operations of different kinds of production and service activities in practical life and to be able to use them in the analysis of management problems.


SKY-597 - Thesis

In this course, students will be shown the methods that should be applied in writing a thesis (thesis writing plan) and they will be provided with the necessary and correct techniques for their studies. To make students aware of the usage of resources and thesis writing procedure.
