ANSWERS FOR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. The master’s programs offered by our institution are no substitute for Pedagogical Formation program.

  1. Our institute does not offer Pedagogical Formation program in any field. In case such program is offered, this will be announced on our website.

  1. For the master’s programs of Business Administration, International Relations and Globalization, International Trade and Marketing, Health Care Management, Private Law and Public Law; the classes are held on weekdays between 18.30-21.30. For the master’s program of English Language Education, the classes are held on Friday between 16.00-22.00, and on Saturday between 09.30-16.30. For the master’s programs of Turkish Language and Literature and Psychology, the classes are held on Friday between 16.00-22.00, and on Saturday between 09.30-16.30.

  1. In taking courses in a semester, at least 2 courses or more, if desired, must be taken.

  1. Except English Language Education Master’s Program, the medium of instruction is Turkish. The medium of instruction for English Language Education Master’s Program is English.

  1. Student attendance in classes is compulsory.

  1. Free school buses are available to provide you with transportation service.

  1. In Non-Thesis Programs, ALES score has been removed and is only required for scholarships. In the Non-Thesis Programs, since the ALES score has been removed and is not required, only in the military service referral to the soldiers, depending on the condition of the student, they can be requested from the regional presidencies and maximum duration can be made.
  1. Only the graduates of the departments of English Language Teaching, English Linguistics, English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, Translation Studies (English), and Translation and Interpreting (English) can enroll in English Language Education Master’s Program.

  1. Only the graduates of the faculties of Law can apply for Private Law Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program and Public Law Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program.
    For Business Administration Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, International Relations Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, International Trade and Marketing Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Health Care Management Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Psychology Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Turkish Language and Literature Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, graduates of any bachelor’s degree can make an application and fulfill final enrollment process.

  1. According to the decision of the Council of Higher Education, the graduates of bachelor degree’s degrees except the ones taken from the faculties of Law (out-of-field graduates) cannot make an application for Private Law and Public Law (Thesis/Non-Thesis) Master’s Programs. In other words, only the graduates of the faculties of Law shall be enrolled in Private Law and Public Law (Thesis/Non-Thesis) Master’s Programs. 

  1. Only those who have a minimum score of 55.000 or above from ALES for Master's Programs with Thesis can register to the program. As for the non-thesis master's programs, it is not required because the ALES score has been removed, but it is required only for scholarships.
  1. If desired, students of Master’s Programs may take “Professional English” or “Professional French” courses given by foreign instructors.

  1. After completing scientific preparation period and passing 8 courses successfully, students enrolled in programs with thesis must apply to the Directorate/Secretary of the Institute of Social Sciences in order to fulfill re-enrollment process by declaring their thesis research topic and supervisors.

  1. Those who have a scientific preparation program and have a passing grade of ALES score only in Thesis Programs, have received a score of at least 55,000 or above from any type of ALES and submitted to the Graduate School Directorate and renewed their registration at the earliest 4 semesters / 2 After this year (students who succeed in the scientific preparation program courses + 8 courses + THESIS defense), they are GRADUATED from their MASTER PROGRAM with THESIS and their diplomas are given.
  1. Except Scientific Preparation Program, normal duration to complete the program is 2 years / 4 semesters for Master’s Programs with Thesis. Maximum 2 semesters of additional time may be granted. In other words, maximum time to complete the program is 3 years / 6 semesters. For Master’s Programs without Thesis, maximum time to complete the program is 2 semesters / 1 year, one semester of additional time may be granted.  Students who cannot complete the program within the specified durations shall be dismissed from the program. 

  1. Scholarship can be received for Doctorate and Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Programs. To learn more about scholarships, (please click here.

  1. The maximum duration of delay concerning the deployment date for obligatory military service is: 3 years for thesis master’s programs; 18 months for non-thesis master’s program. In order to keep such duration of delay, students must fulfill re-enrollment regularly at the beginning of each academic semester.

  1. The age limit to benefit from the right to apply for the delay is 35.

  1. Students who successfully completed at least one semester in any master’s programs of our university or another universities may apply for transferring to master’s programs.

  1. All classes are held on the campus of Cag University.

  1. Final enrollment and re-enrollment processes for Master’s Programs take place in every semester. For fall semester, applications for enrollment can be made between June - September; for spring semester, applications for enrollment can be made between January - February.   1. English Language Education Master’s Program is no substitute for Pedagogical Formation Program. Therefore, completing this master’s program does not grant graduates right to be employed as ‘Teacher’ by the Ministry of Education. However, the graduates of this program may serve as Instructor, Research Assistant and etc.

  1. The Institute of Social Science does not offer Distance Education Program.

  1. The fees for Master’s and Doctorate Programs are announced yearly. The amount stated for the fees covers four-semester-long legal period of the relevant program.

  1. Students who are enrolled in one of our programs may take elective courses from other programs.

  1. For Business Administration Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, International Relations Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, International Trade and Marketing Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Health Care Management Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Psychology Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, Turkish Language and Literature Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program, graduates of any bachelor’s degree can make an application and fulfill final enrollment process.
    Only the graduates of the faculties of Law can apply for Private Law Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program and Public Law Thesis/Non-Thesis Master’s Program.
     
  2. According to the decision of the Council of Higher Education, only the graduates of the faculties of Law can make an application for Private Law and Public Law (Thesis/Non-Thesis) Master’s Programs. The applications of the students who graduated from other departments or faculties shall not be accepted.

  1. Medical board reports do not make up absence. Such reports can be submitted to apply for make-up exams, in case one fails to take an exam. Following the issue date, such reports must be submitted to the Secretary of the Institute of Social Sciences within 3 (three) work days. 

  1. It is not possible to freeze the registration in the first semester, however; the registration freeze can be done for the following semesters.

  1. Final enrollments/course enrollments for Master’s Programs are done in every semester, and when re-enrollment take places, students must pay the fee for the relevant semester.

     33. Students who have letter grades of CC/70 cannot take resit exams. 
 

     34. In Master’s Programs without Thesis, students must successfully complete 11 courses, including scientific preparation, and pay the fee for 4   semesters in order to graduate from the program.
 

     35. Scientific Preparatory program shall be implemented for only the students to be enrolled in Psychology Master’s (Thesis/Non-Thesis) Program as one semester, and the students successfully completing this program shall continue their program.
