BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DOCTORATE PROGRAM 

Goals:

  • The Business Administration Doctorate Program is designed to equip students with a highest level sound theoretical knowledge on management and organizations. Graduates are expected to work as academician and researcher in the field of management and practitioners in both public and private organizations. The program is also designed to implement theoretical and empirical research studies on current management and business life issues.

Objectives:

  • The program aims at providing students broad base knowledge on business functional areas such as human resources management, marketing, basic financial issues, and quality management.
  • The program provides comprehensive theoretical knowledge on management and organization literature.
  • The program is designed to enable students to understand and apply contemporary research approach to management and organizations that would be used to solve the business problems.

  • The program is developed to enhance the ability of the students in creative problem solving and applying change-based solutions to business and public entities.

General Description of Business Administration Doctorate Program

 

Foundation & Recognition

The Institute of Social Sciences of Çağ University was founded in 1997 to educate and develop prospective leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs in private and public business organizations.

The Business Administration Doctorate Program has been approved to equip students with a highest level sound theoretical knowledge on management and organization.

Certified by Higher Education Council: 06.05.2009 / 013437 - 2034  

Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully completed the program will be awarded with a Management and Organization Doctorate Diploma.

Level Of Qualification

Doctorate program in the Management and Organization field (Third Cycle).

Specific Admission Requirements

Students who have completed masters degree studies in other domestic or international universities may apply for admission according to Regulations of Council of Higher Education and Çağ University.

The students must show the English exam grade, which is at least 55 of 100 from the official exams organized by Higher Education.

The students will also be interviewed by a committee of the university for qualification. 

Those students who are eligible for the program but lack in fundamental courses in the field of management should take complementary courses before they enter the doctorate program. The total duration of this preparation period will not exceed two semesters. Which courses must be taken depend on the transcripts of the student and the decision of the interview committee.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of  Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal And İnformal)

Students who have studied at other Universities may transfer Çağ University Programmes. Exemption is given for any other courses which have already been taken from other universities with passing grades and same content.

Qualification Requirements And Regulations

A student is required to have a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile Of The Programme

Business Administration Doctorate Program is designed to equip the students with sound theoretical knowledge of the contemporary management and organization.  The students are also expected to develop their skills as instructor in management and organization at universities.

Graduated students have opportunity to work in public and private institutions as managers or work at universities as instructors

Access To Further Studies

Students may apply to post-doctorate programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment And Grading

The examination regulations are specified for each course. However, generally, there is 1 Midterm Exam, 1 Final Exam and term paper (or project) for each course and a thesis. See the exam regulations, assessment and grading of each course in the Course Structure Diagram for details.

Graduation Requirements

The graduation requirements for the Program are as the same as the general qualification requirements and regulations of Çağ University. There is no additional requirement to secure the Doctorate Degree provided that the students have passed all the courses in the curriculum with at least a CC grade, had a cumulative gross point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00.

MAN-601 - Organizational Behavior

This course is aimed at students who are aiming to be successful in business life by increasing their understanding and attitudes and behaviors of working people. For this purpose, practical and theoretical knowledge developed in the field of human behavior and management is examined. The student's analytical and problem solving skills are increased by concentrating on personality, personality problems, attitudes, perception and attitudes, motivation, group behavior and team building, leadership and leadership intelligence, communication and organizational change and similar issues.


MAN-603 - Entrepreneurship

To increase knowledge and understanding of marketing concepts and terminology (\"Principles of Marketing\") which form the foundation for advanced coursework and practice in business.


MAN-611 - International Business

To increase knowledge and understanding of marketing concepts and terminology (\"Principles of Marketing\") which form the foundation for advanced coursework and practice in business.


MAN-612 - Macro Economics

The course focuses on basic macroeconomic problems and discusses the ways to solve these problems. Students macroeconomics, national income, inflation, unemployment, economic growth, sources of growth, national accounts, consumption, savings and total expenditure, balance of payments, to inform about Turkey's economy and the current macro-economic problems.
 


MAN-615 - Financial Accounting

This course focuses on how companies prepare financial statements. In the same way as professional accountants, students are also required to apply the accounting rules and principles required to obtain the financial statements. After the financial statements are prepared, the students are generally directed to make evaluations. This course aims to teach students the recording, classification and summarization of important commercial and financial transactions in the accounting process.
 


MAN-620 - Directed Reading and Applied Research in Marketing Theory

Doctorates who choose this course in line with their interest, examine the current marketing literature with the instructor and conduct an academic research in that field. At the end of the course, they make an academic research to be published and take the necessary steps to publish national / international publications. The aim of this course is to provide the student with practical experience in academic writing and research.


MAN-621 - Directed Reading and Applied Research in Finance Theory

Doctorates who choose this course in line with their interest, examine the current marketing literature with the instructor and conduct an academic research in that field. At the end of the course, they make an academic research to be published and take the necessary steps to publish national / international publications. The aim of this course is to provide the student with practical experience in academic writing and research.


MAN-622 - Guided Reading and Applied Research in Management and Organizational Theory

For the purposes of the course, it includes a series of academic studies to enable physicians to read and conduct research. The aim of the course is to make guided reading and applied research in the theory of management and organizations.


MAN-623 - Production management

Total quality management, lean manufacturing, six sigma, supply chain management, constraint theory, process oriented management, flexible production systems, multi-criteria decision making methods and artificial intelligence are covered in this course. The aim of this course is to give information about production management and new approaches in production management.


MAN-625 - Seminar: Basic Principles of Management (Project)

The aim of this course is to improve the ability of doctoral students to express, discuss and communicate in front of the community by preparing a study that will contribute to the current and educational process related to thesis topics in accordance with scientific research methods.


MAN-626 - Seminar: Finance Management (Project)

The aim of this course is to improve the ability of doctoral students to express, discuss and communicate in front of the community by preparing a study that will contribute to the current and educational process related to thesis topics in accordance with scientific research methods.

The aim of this course is to improve the ability of doctoral students to express, discuss and communicate in front of the community by preparing a study that will contribute to the current and educational process related to thesis topics in accordance with scientific research methods.


MAN-633 - Research Methods and Multivariate Statistics

The course will cover all phases of a marketing research, including data collection and analysis of a real research project. A variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, including data collection and interpretation, will be applied to a particular problem. Ethical problems that will arise during the research process will also be discussed. The course also aims to develop students' critical thinking and problem solving skills. Finding literature, collecting data, evaluating data, and writing techniques for researching a specific topic are among the topics to be discussed. To be able to apply quantitative data analysis and interpretation techniques by using statistical software (SPSS).


MAN-636 - Economic Theories

This course covers the economic, technical and mathematical aspects of the relations of consumers and producers with the goods and services market. The aim of this course is to discuss the issues in a theoretical framework and to explain the partial balances between economic decision-making units and the goods and services market in full competition and how the state intervenes in the full competition market. The course aims to equip students with the economic knowledge necessary to make business decisions and to teach them how to use the concepts and methods of economics in making decisions.


MAN-637 - Marketing Theory

This course focuses on the relationship between technology and the business world in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the basic terms, concepts and definitions of contemporary marketing. Basic concepts such as terms and concepts in marketing theories and the technological structure of contemporary marketing will be explained to the students. The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the basic terms, concepts and definitions of marketing theories and theories, as well as to understand the important role it plays in today's modern business world. The aim of this course is to increase the ability to read contemporary marketing articles, researches and similar materials created by foreign and domestic sources and to see different perspectives between these sources.


MAN-639 - Development of Management Thinking and Contemporary Management

Development of Management Thought and Contemporary Management will be examined through the application of managerial practices at national and international levels and the development of management science. To comprehend the transformation of management discipline to contemporary management thought.


MAN-640 - Financial Institutions and Strategies

Determinants of international finance, balance of payments, critics of foreign exchange markets, purchasing power, parity and interest rate parity theories, risk avoidance and speculation. International distribution of portfolios. To provide students with detailed information about international financial markets. To comprehend the issues such as multinational corporations, foreign direct investment, arbitrage, single price law, economic factors affecting exchange rate, interventions of the central bank in foreign exchange markets, international monetary systems, parity conditions and exchange rate estimation methods. To introduce the balance of payments and international economic relations and gain the ability to comment.


MAN-644 - Scientific Research Methods and Publication Ethics

MAN-645 - Accounting Theory

Having understood accounting as a social, political, economic and institutional practice it mainly focuses on how an accounting reality can be formed in accordance with the economic reality. Students learn to assess major ideas, concepts and principles underlying the practice of accounting from a critical point of view.


MAN-655 - Supply Chain Management

The aim of the course is to provide the students with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge about the human management functions of organizations. Human resource management in complex organizations; staff selection and recruitment; to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of staff by improving on-the-job training and human resources; performance appraisal; motivation and communication; employee morale and productivity; worker-management relations, initiative and security; complaints and corrective discipline practices.


MAN-658 - Qualifying Examination

The purpose of this writing guide is to ensure that the graduate theses prepared in accordance with Articles 21 and 33 of Çağ University Institute of Social Sciences Graduate Education Regulations are written and published according to certain rules. Candidates and thesis advisors who prepare master's, doctorate and proficiency thesis in the departments of the Social Sciences Institute of Çağ University should act in accordance with the rules in this guide for the defense prepared theses. The guidelines of the American Psychological Association [APA 6] (2010) and the thesis writing rules of the Institute of Social Sciences of Çağ University were used in the preparation of this guide. Abstract, foreword, table of contents, list of tables, list of figures, abbreviations and list of appendices can be found in the Appendix at the end of this manual.


MAN-688 - Research Area

The Field Study course is designed to enable students to understand areas of interest, improve their knowledge, and write a doctoral dissertation. Students will be able to search the related literature in coordination with their advisors and learn how to conduct research and improve writing skills.


MAN-699 - Doctorate Thesis

This course is designed for students to prepare their doctorate courses together with their advisors. The content of this course covers the basic activities necessary to prepare a doctoral thesis. These activities; definition of the subject to be studied, developing thesis proposal, creating a research model, using appropriate research techniques, defining research findings, writing, presenting and defending the thesis.
