In the Preparatory Program, a two-stage examination system is implemented to determine students’ English language proficiency levels and exemption status: the Placement Test and the Proficiency Test.
Students who achieve 65% or higher in the Placement Test are eligible to take the Proficiency Test. Those who score below 65% are placed in one of the levels — A1, A2 or B1 — according to their scores and begin the preparatory program accordingly.
Students who score at least 60 out of 100 on the Proficiency Test are exempted from the Preparatory Program and proceed directly to their registered department or program. Students who score below 60 continue their studies in the Preparatory Program at the B1 level.
Both the Placement and Proficiency Tests consist of the following sections:
Listening
Grammar
Reading
Vocabulary
Writing
Additionally, the Proficiency Test includes a speaking section to assess students’ oral communication skills.
All examinations are administered at the beginning of the academic year and, when necessary, at the end of the semester on pre-announced dates and times. Make-up exams are not avaliable.
