Awards Presented to Students Who Ranked in the “Short Story Competition” Award Ceremony

Çağ University held the award ceremony of the “Short Story Competition,” organized to support and enhance students’ creative writing skills, in an enthusiastic atmosphere. The competition, held for the first time on May 29 in memory of the university’s founder, Yaşar Bayboğan, was organized in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, with contributions from faculty members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The competition and the award ceremony drew significant interest from students.

The ceremony commenced with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, following a tea and coffee reception. In his opening speech, the Rector of Çağ University, Prof. Dr. Murat Koç, emphasized the importance of the competition within the university’s vision and its contribution to student development. Project Coordinator and Chair of the Jury Committee, Prof. Dr. Elmas Şahin, delivered a speech evaluating the competition’s purpose and outcomes.

A total of 32 short stories were evaluated through a blind review process. The jury included Prof. Dr. Elmas Şahin, Dr. Hasan Sakın, Dr. Betül Altaş, Dr. Fatma Toköz, Dr. Seyfettin Özdemirel, Research Assistant Demet Canarslan Yıldız, and Research Assistant Alper Yıldız. Throughout the evaluation process, the stories were assessed solely based on their titles, without disclosing the authors’ identities.

The competition results were announced as follows:

First Prize was awarded to Büşra Çiydem, a fourth-year student in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, for her story titled “Yolun Kendisi” (The Road Itself).

Second Prize went to Kübra Dağlı, a third-year student in the Department of Psychology, for her story titled “Kanlı Ay Tutulması” (Blood Moon Eclipse).

Third Prize was presented to Fatma Ata, a third-year student in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, for her story titled “Susmayı Bıraktığım Gün” (The Day I Stopped Being Silent).

The ceremony concluded with a group photo following the plaque presentations.
