From the Council of Higher Education (CoHE): THE REGULATION ON MAKING AMENDMENT IN THE REGULATION ON THE CONTINUATION OF THE GRADUATES OF HIGHER VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS AND OPEN EDUCATION ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMS TO UNDERGRADUATE STUDY

ARTICLE 1 -The sentence stated below is added, following the first sentence of the first paragraph of the Article 8 of the Regulation on the Continuation of the Graduates of Higher Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs to Undergraduate Study which was published in the Official Gazette No. 24676 with the date of 190.2.2002. “The coefficient which is applicable for the related weighted associate degree success score for the candidates who are placed into a higher education program through central placement as a result of External Transfer Exam of the previous year is reduced at a rate defined by the CoHE.”

ARTICLE 2 - Article 9 of the same regulation is amended together with its title as follows. “

Undergraduate study

ARTICLE 9 - For the students who gain right to start undergraduate study, the courses they have to take from their programs are defined by exempting them from the courses that they have taken during their associate degree education and are accepted as equivalent and considering the relevant course’s credits. Completing the registration by taking the required courses, students gain right to continue their education. For the programs that the language of education is English and impose the condition of studying one-year compulsory foreign language course, students must pass the foreign language proficiency exam held by the university or they must attend the courses at foreign language preparatory school and pass the courses successfully. During their education in foreign language preparatory school and undergraduate education, students are subjected to the related regulations of the university on education. In case the students of the programs that the medium of instruction is fully or partly (at least 30%) foreign language fail to pass foreign language preparatory school, within the framework of the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles to be Followed for Foreign Language Education at Higher Education and in Education with Foreign Language, OSYM may place such students to higher education programs in which the medium of instruction is Turkish. External transfer students continue their education in accordance with the provisions of Article 44 of the Law No. 2547.

ARTICLE 3 - Article 10 of the same regulation is amended as follows. “

ARTICLE 10 - Article 7 shall not be enforced for the associate degree graduates and graduates of open education associate degree programs and for the students who want to continue open university undergraduate programs in their fields with no quota restriction. Such candidates gain right to directly register to open university undergraduate programs in their fields. Students are subjected to the regulations of the related university on education and exam, and they exercise any rights related to the studentship, except the right to defer compulsory military service. The Council of Higher Education decides the open university programs that the graduates of associate degree and open university associate degree may apply upon the suggestions of the universities, and the detail of such information and related university websites are stated in the External Transfer Exam guide. The application and registration conditions for open university undergraduate programs are determined and announced by the related university for the candidates.

ARTICLE 4 - This Regulation shall come into force as of the date of its issuance.

ARTICLE 5 - The provisions of this Regulation shall be exercised by the Head of the Council of Higher Education.
