About the UI Greenmetrics World University Rankings:
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is a green campus and environmental sustainability ranking initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. Through 39 indicators across 6 criteria, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings carefully determines rankings by considering universities' environmental commitments and initiatives.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, an international ranking for sustainable universities, was developed by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. It is known as the most widely used metric in the world (Muñoz-Suárez, Guadalajara & Osca, 2020). Based on universities' self-assessments related to their criteria, this ranking consists of six main criteria:
As of 2023, Çağ University, which started ranking in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, continues to improve its position each year with activities aimed at enhancing the rankings. We have identified priority research and education areas based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Academic research in these areas is supported, rewarded, and financed.
Çağ University’s Progress in Greenmetrics Rankings:
In 2022, Çağ University ranked 830th in the Greenmetrics rankings. Significant progress was made in 2023, and the university's ranking rose to 747th. Our goal is to be in the top 500 by 2025. In this context, the Sustainability Office was established in 2024, and various activities were initiated to increase the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The office focuses on various global goals, including quality education, good health and well-being, poverty reduction, decent work and economic growth, gender equality, peace, justice, strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals.
Future Goals:
We aim to enhance our sustainability initiatives by applying innovative green technologies across campus and expanding community outreach programs to effectively respond to local environmental and social challenges. Additionally, we plan to increase our research impact aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, address global challenges, and promote innovation. Furthermore, we will strengthen community engagement initiatives to respond to local challenges and enhance our curriculum with more sustainability-focused courses and projects. This will prepare our students for leadership roles in sustainable development.
