Purpose, Scope, Legal Basis, and Definitions
Purpose
Article 1 – (1) The purpose of this Regulation is to set out the principles and procedures regarding the objectives, fields of activity, administrative bodies, duties of the administrative bodies, and working procedures of the Çağ University Gender and Women’s Studies Application and Research Center.
Scope
Article 2 – (1) This Regulation covers the provisions regarding the objectives, fields of activity, administrative bodies, duties of the administrative bodies, and working procedures of the Çağ University Gender and Women’s Studies Application and Research Center.
Legal Basis
Article 3 – (1) This Regulation has been prepared based on subparagraph (2) of paragraph (d) of the first clause of Article 7, and Article 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 4/11/1981.
Definitions
Article 4 – (1) The terms used in this Regulation are defined as follows:
a) Advisory Board: The Advisory Board of the Center,
b) Center: Çağ University Gender and Women’s Studies Application and Research Center,
c) Director: The Director of the Center,
ç) Rector: The Rector of Çağ University,
d) University: Çağ University,
e) Administrative Board: The Administrative Board of the Center.
CHAPTER TWO
Purpose and Fields of Activity of the Center
Purpose of the Center
Article 5 – (1) The purpose of the Center is to conduct research in all areas related to women’s issues at the national and international levels, to cooperate with units that play an active role in social, political, and economic fields for solving these problems and enhancing the value of women in society, and to organize and conduct congresses, symposiums, panels, research projects, and similar activities within the framework of relevant legislation.
Fields of Activity of the Center
Article 6 – (1) The fields of activity of the Center are as follows:
a) Conducting research and organizing educational activities in all areas related to gender and women’s issues in Turkey and the world.
b) Encouraging scientific research in the field of gender and women’s studies.
c) Supporting the development of joint projects by researchers from different disciplines, in addition to individually conducted research by faculty members.
ç) Conducting studies to determine the main topics of focus and areas lacking research within gender and women’s studies.
d) Gathering information on the contributions of women to various disciplines and fields of research in Turkey and worldwide, and organizing events to analyze and discuss the academic production and institutionalization of gender.
e) Raising awareness on women’s rights and issues, and engaging in activities to help reduce the problems women face and improve their status in society.
f) Supporting scientific events in the field of gender and women’s issues by producing projects, bulletins, journals, and similar publications.
g) Organizing or participating in other activities aligned with the objectives of the Center.
CHAPTER THREE
Administrative Bodies and Their Duties
Administrative Bodies of the Center
Article 7 – (1) The administrative bodies of the Center are:
a) The Director,
b) The Administrative Board,
c) The Advisory Board.
Director
Article 8 – (1) The Director is appointed by the Board of Trustees for a term of three years, upon the recommendation of the Rector, from among the University’s academic staff. The Director may be reappointed.
(2) The Director may assign one of the members of the Administrative Board as a deputy director to assist with their duties, with the approval of the Rector. The deputy director’s term ends automatically when the Director’s term ends.
Duties of the Director
Article 9 – (1) The duties of the Director are as follows:
a) Representing the Center and chairing the Administrative Board.
b) Managing the administrative affairs of the Center.
c) Submitting the Center’s annual work program to the Rector for approval after obtaining the opinion of the Administrative Board.
ç) Contacting national and international institutions and organizations and carrying out joint projects and collaborations in line with the Center’s purpose within the framework of relevant legislation.
Administrative Board
Article 10 – (1) The Administrative Board consists of five members: the Director and four faculty members with expertise in the Center’s fields of activity, appointed by the Rector for a term of three years.
(2) The Board meets at least once every three months upon the Director’s call and makes decisions by absolute majority.
Duties of the Administrative Board
Article 11 – (1) The duties of the Administrative Board are as follows:
a) Making decisions regarding the management and activities of the Center.
b) Preparing the activity report for each year and the work program for the following year.
Advisory Board and Its Duties
Article 12 – (1) The Advisory Board consists of up to seven members who are experienced in the Center’s fields of activity. Members are appointed by the Rector upon the recommendation of the Administrative Board for a term of three years. Members may be reappointed.
(2) The duties of the Advisory Board are to provide assessments, opinions, and suggestions on matters requested by the Administrative Board regarding the Center’s activities.
CHAPTER FOUR
Miscellaneous and Final Provisions
Cases Not Covered by the Regulation
Article 13 – (1) In cases not covered by this Regulation, the relevant provisions of other legislation and decisions of the University Senate shall apply.
Repealed Regulation
Article 14 – (1) The Regulation on the Çağ University Gender and Women’s Studies Application and Research Center published in the Official Gazette dated 13/10/2017 and numbered 30209 is hereby repealed.
Enforcement
Article 15 – (1) This Regulation enters into force on the date of its publication.
Execution
Article 16 – (1) The provisions of this Regulation are executed by the Rector of Çağ University.
