The event entitled “Ukraine Meeting: The Ukraine Issue and Its Implications in Light of Turkey’s Security” was successfully held with the participation of European Affairs Expert Deniz Berktay.

Moderated by Ambassador (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Ali Engin Oba, the event comprehensively addressed Russia’s revisionist foreign policy, which began with the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and deepened with the Russia-Ukraine War in 2022. The multidimensional effects of the conflicts on Turkey’s security architecture were evaluated, with detailed discussions on Black Sea security, the strategic role of the Montreux Convention, energy supply and transit routes, defense industry policies, developments within NATO, and Turkey’s military and diplomatic positions.

Discussions, actively attended by academics and students, contributed to understanding the security risks Turkey faces and analyzing the strategic approaches developed in response.

During the event, a book stand was also opened, and Mr. Deniz Berktay signed copies of his books “Ukraine: The World’s Political Fault Line – Ukraine’s Past and Present” and “The Ecumenical Patriarchate in the Russia-West Conflict.”
