President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Announced the 2030 Roadmap of Turkish Higher Education:
"We will become a center that produces and exports quality assurance"
Özvar stated that quality assurance and accreditation processes are among the most critical topics that will enhance the international competitiveness of Turkish higher education. He noted that the goal is to complete the evaluation processes of all universities by 2027 and to publish the reports in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) databases.
In addition, Özvar emphasized that another important issue is that, as of 2025, YÖKAK has gained the authority to conduct cross-border accreditation within the European Higher Education Area in the context of quality assurance (ESG). He said, “Especially in countries in our close geography and with which we have strong relations, YÖKAK’s capacity to conduct ESG-approved evaluations will make Turkish higher education not only internally but also regionally a center that produces and exports quality assurance. In the upcoming period, our aim is to institutionalize quality assurance as a permanent culture across all processes of our universities, continuously improve our institutions, and align them with international standards.”
