Announcement for the 37th Ömer Seyfettin Short Story Competition

Applications have opened for the 37th Ömer Seyfettin Short Story Competition, held annually by the Balıkesir Gönen Municipality as part of the Ömer Seyfettin Culture and Art Week. The aim of the competition is to honor the memory of Ömer Seyfettin, one of the prominent figures of contemporary Turkish storytelling, and to contribute new stories and young writers to Turkish literature.

The competition is open to all high school students (public and private) as well as adult participants. The topic is free, but submissions must comply with the Constitution and legal regulations. Participation in the competition is free of charge.

December 17, 2025 – January 19, 2026

Prizes

• 1st Place: 20,000 TL

• 2nd Place: 15,000 TL

• 3rd Place: 12,000 TL

• Encouragement Award: 10,000 TL

Accommodation and transportation expenses for the winners will be covered by Gönen Municipality.
